Circle June 13-14, 2019 and register now! You don't want to miss this event!
Start making plans now to join us for this exciting and unique training that blends leadership with advocacy! This two-day conference will be held in the heart of DC in the Rayburn House office building on Capitol Hill.
On Thursday, June 13, 2019 we’ll kick off the event with a communication session that will include tips and pointers on how to effectively communicate with members of Congress and others in your sphere of influence. We’re excited to be able to offer an abbreviated version of the nationally recognized Well Said communication seminar that is offered to business and organization leaders throughout the country. After the morning session, you’re off to put your new skills to use! You’ll meet with members of Congress, or their staff, to discuss the importance of Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) education and federal funding. Don’t worry, we’ll provide you with effective talking points and other helpful materials, so you’ll be well prepared! Between meetings you may even have time to take a tour of the U.S. Capitol, watch Congress in action (if they are in session), or visit the Library of Congress. After your Congressional meetings, we’ll meet back in the Rayburn Gold room to share stories and experiences from the day and wrap up the communication seminar. Weather permitting, we’ll end Thursday evening with a time of food and fun on the National Mall!
Friday, June 14, 2019 will begin with an interactive session adapted from the dynamic Leadership Forum International program. This forum is designed to guide participants through small group discussions based on short (4 -8 minute) video clips from experts in the field of Leadership.
We will be discussing a wide range of leadership characteristics and topics. As an example, when we talk about the Power of Purpose, we’ll watch a video of JFK’s 1962 speech discussing how the USA will send a man to the moon by the end of the decade. (Click here for the video. Please note this will be same video we will show at the event). This video will be followed by a few discussion questions guided by a table host. Each question is intended to generate lively conversation between the students at the table.
The second half of the day we’ll dive into our SRA training where students will gain the information and tools they need to become SRA advocates.
We’ll wrap up the training with students working in small groups. Together they’ll take everything they’ve learned over the last two days and work to create action plans and talking points that will help them become SRA advocates in their schools and communities.
Cost for the two-day event - $25.00 per person if you register prior to May 15, $75 prior to May 31st, $100 prior to June 5th and $125 after that date. This includes all training materials, dinner on Thursday night and lunch on Friday!
